A cafe is the best place to work and the worst place to be left alone. Someone will ask if the other chair is free. Someone else will recognise you. The person at the next table would like to tell you about their startup. This preset puts a discreet, screen-busy call on your laptop that answers all three questions before any of them are asked out loud.
The mechanic is social, not technical. In a coffee shop, a person typing is approachable and a person on a call is not. That distinction is understood everywhere in the world and requires no words. This is a focus screen that borrows the second signal, so you can keep the table, keep the thread you were holding, and skip the four minutes of pleasant conversation that costs you twenty minutes of concentration.
It is tuned for the setting rather than for the joke. Low motion, so it does not pull your own eye. A dimmer palette than the other presets, because cafe lighting is warm and a bright white grid reads as glare from two tables away. Tile count high enough to be unmistakably a meeting at a glance, and no chat panel scrolling in the corner, because you are trying to read something else.
Nothing about it is a claim to anyone. There is no audio, nothing is transmitted, and you are not telling anybody anything. Headphones plus a screen full of tiles is a widely understood request to be left alone, and this makes that request without you having to be the person who says no thank you to a stranger four times in an afternoon.
The purple look is the most discreet of the three in a warm room, and reads as corporate from an angle without ever being bright. It is the version to use if your table faces the room, because someone glancing over gets the whole message in a quarter of a second and returns to their own laptop.
The white look is the loudest, which makes it the wrong choice for a candlelit corner and the right choice for a bright window seat where a dark screen would just be a mirror. Turn brightness down two notches before you commit to it and it stops competing with the daylight.
The gallery look is the one people recognise fastest across the widest range of lighting, because the tile grid has become visual shorthand. It also has the least text on screen, which means nobody at the next table can idly read anything, including the parts of your day that are none of their business.
